Marafiq is Oman’s first centralized utilities provider catering initially to the industrial zones through an effective, competitive and reliable utilities services in an integrated manner to a fully centralized utilities.

Marafiq is setting up as a one-stop provider of a full range of centralized utilities. This concept will enable industries to outsource all its utilities required to support their operations to Marafiq, rather than building and running their own utilities facilities. This will not only offer industries with a reliable utilities supply, but also creates synergies, as well as the opportunity to benefit from economies of scale, and save on investment and operating costs, thereby allowing industries to focus on their core businesses.

Marafiq was established as a joint venture between Takamul Investment Company, (a subsidiary of Oman Oil Company) with a 65% of shares and Sembcorp Utilities (Oman) Ltd (a 100% subsidiary of SembCorp Industries Ltd from Singapore) a pioneer in centralized utilities with 35% of shares.

The company’s current objective is to develop centralized utilities facilities for the Duqm Special Economic Zone (SEZ), a new major industrial and commercial hub that is set to be one of the worlds largest special economic zones.

Marafiq signed a 25-year utilities service agreement with the Special Economic Zone Authority of Duqm (“SEZAD”) which gives Marafiq an exclusive rights to provide utilities to all industries within the Duqm SEZ, so as to support the vision of SEZAD towards developing a world-class industrial park.
